Singapore Passport Tops Global Ranking Once More
Singapore’s passport has once again been ranked the world’s most powerful for 2026, according to the Henley Passport Index.
Out of 199 passports assessed, Singapore secured the top spot, offering visa‑free entry to 192 of 227 destinations. Japan and South Korea followed in joint second place with access to 188 destinations, while Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland shared third place with 186.
Malaysia climbed to ninth position, granting entry to 180 destinations without a visa—just ahead of the United States in 10th place with 179. The Henley Passport Index, based on International Air Transport Association data, is regarded as the leading global ranking of passport strength.
In 2025, Malaysia was 12th with access to 182 destinations, while Singapore, holding first place since 2024, offered 195. Japan previously led in 2023 with 193 destinations, tying with South Korea, and had dominated the rankings from 2018 to 2023, occasionally sharing the title with Singapore.
Over the past year, Singapore lost visa‑free access to Pakistan, Mauritania, Somalia, and Bolivia, but gained entry to Papua New Guinea.
